Azhar and Rizwan Helped Pakistan to Put a Decent Total – PAK-NZ 2nd Test

(Christchurch, Jan 3, 2021) — New Zealand has won the toss and elected to field first in the 2nd test match against Pakistan. At the end of the day, the Pakistani team put a decent total of 297-10 on the board.

Pakistan started their 1st innings and lost their first wicket in the 3rd over. Shan Masood was given out LBD on Southee’s ball, he went on a duck.

After this, Azhar Ali and Abid Ali did bat well and takes the score to 66 when Abid caught in the slip by Southee. Harish Sohail and Fawad Alam could only make 1 and 2 runs respectively. Pakistan was 83-4 at this moment.

From here, Azhar and captain Mohammad Rizwan played well and they played a solid inning. They both set up a good partnership of 88 runs and this partnership was broken when Rizwan caught behind on 171-5. Rizwan made 61 runs on 103 balls.

After Rizwan, Faheem Ashraf played a solid knock and add precious runs in the total with Azhar. Azhar went when his total was 93 and he couldn’t make a century. At this stage, Pakistan’s total was 227-6.

Faheem got out on the total score of 260 when his own score was 48. The debutant Zafar Gohar also played a decent inning and he made 34 runs on a tough pitch. Jamieson took his catch on the long leg on a short ball.

After this, no batsman could make a good total and Pakistan got all out at the total of 297 runs in 83.5 overs. It was the end of the first day, and now New Zealand has to start their inning tomorrow on the 2nd day of the test.

It was a good day for Kyle Jamieson who took 5 wickets for 69 runs. Trent Boult and Tim Southee got 2 wickets each.
