Sarfaraz Ahmed PSL Career

Sarfaraz Ahmed is a prior Pakistani pro cricketer who played wicketkeeper-batsman as part of the Pakistani national team of cricket. He was raised on May 22, 1987, in Karachi, Pakistan, from a family that owned a printing press business.

Sarfaraz Ahmed became a member of the Pakistani national cricket team. Previously, he served as the skipper of the Pakistan team across all matches and forms. Within the Pakistan Super League, he is the captain of the Quetta Gladiators.

He led Pakistan to victory in the ICC Champions Trophy of 2017, which they won by overcoming their fiercest rivals, India, in the championship match. It just so happens that he was also the captain of the Pakistan squad that won the Cricket World Cup of Under-19 in 2006 when they also defeated India in the championship match.

As a result of the ICC World Twenty20 that took place in India in 2016, Sarfaraz was selected to serve as the captain of Pakistan’s Twenty20 International team. He was given the role of One-Day International Captain on February 9, 2017, following Azhar Ali’s resignation.

Sarfaraz had been selected by Pakistan as a replacement for Kamran Akmal, who suffered a finger injury during the one-day series that was played versus India in November of 2007.

In the 3rd test match versus Australia, which took place in Hobart on January 14, 2010, he played his debut during a test match. He took over for Kamran Akmal, who had an “error-ridden game” in the 2nd test.

Sarfaraz Ahmed PSL Career

In the players’ draft for the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which took place on December 21, 2015, Quetta Gladiators selected Sarfaraz. It has been decided that he will serve as the captain of the franchise for the season 2016.

Only two of the Gladiators’ matches were lost before they reached the championship match, and he guided them all the way there. Nevertheless, his squad was unable to emerge victorious, and they were defeated by Islamabad United in the championship match.

Once again, he captained Quetta to the championship game in the following season of 2017, but this time, Quetta was defeated by Peshawar by a score of 58 runs. This resulted in Quetta’s defeat in the final of the Pakistan Super League for the second consecutive year.

When the Quetta Gladiators competed in the 3rd season (2018), they were unsuccessful in their attempt to be eligible for the final and were subsequently beaten by Peshawar Zalmi by a score of one run in the initial eliminator.

In the 4th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he once again served as the skipper of the Quetta Gladiators, and he led the side to victory in the competition for the first time ever, beating Peshawar Zalmi during the championship match.

  • Quetta Gladiators (2016–present)

Sarfaraz Ahmed is one of the only players in PSL who has not changed the team yet. He was picked by Quetta Gladiators in 2015 drafts for the first season played in 20216. Since then he is playing for Quetta Gladiators.

He led the side two times to the final but unfortunately, his side lost in the finals. But in the fourth season of Pakistan Super League, his side won the tournament under his captaincy.

Sarfaraz Ahmed is a very good striker of the ball. He led his side three times in the final but won only one time.

He has played 80 matches for Quetta so far and batted in 68 innings. He has scored 1503 runs and is on 8th place in most runs of Pakistan Super League runs history. The batting average of Sarfaraz Ahmed is 31.31 which is far better in T20 matches and the strike rate is 123.80.

Sarfaraz Ahmed has 7 fifty in PSL history so far and he remains 20 times not out. He smashed 134 boundaries and 26 maximums so far in the tournament.

Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Career as Wicketkeeper

Sarfaraz Ahmed has a good record behind the wicket in Pakistan Super League history. He is number 3 in the list of most dismissals as a wicketkeeper after Mohammad Rizwan and Kamran Akmal.

Sarfaraz has dismissed 49 players as a wicketkeeper so far in PSL. 38 catches have been taken by him and 11 stumps in Pakistan Super League history.

Sarfaraz Ahmed in PSL 8 (2023)

Sarfaraz represented Quetta Gladiators in PSL 8 which was held last year in 2023. He played in 8 matches and scored 162 runs in the tournament.

Quetta could not perform well in the tournament. The highest score of Sarfaraz was 41 and his batting average was 27. His strike rate was 104.52.

Sarfaraz Ahmed in PSL 9 (2024)

Pakistan Super League is going to be held in February 2024. Sarfaraz is picked by again Quetta Gladiators in the Gold category.
