On January 21, 2026, the owner of the new Sialkot-based Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Kamil Khan of OZ Developers, officially unveiled the team’s name as “Sialkot Stallionz” (spelled with a ‘z’ to give it a modern twist) through a social media post on X.
The announcement was accompanied by a 3D animated video revealing the logo, which features a stylized stallion in dynamic motion, symbolizing power, speed, and the city’s storied cricketing heritage. This marks the debut of Sialkot Stallionz in PSL 11, scheduled from March 26 to May 3, 2026, as part of the league’s expansion to eight teams.

The franchise was acquired for a record PKR 1.85 billion (approximately USD 6.55 million) in an auction held by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on January 8, 2026, making it the most expensive team in PSL history.
The logo’s design pays homage to Sialkot’s legacy while incorporating contemporary elements, and it has already sparked discussions among fans about its resemblance to other global T20 franchise branding.
Hype Around the New PSL Franchises
The PSL’s expansion to eight teams for the 2026 season has generated significant buzz, promising more matches, intensified rivalries, and broader regional representation across Pakistan. This move comes after years of speculation about adding franchises to boost the league’s commercial appeal and fan engagement, with cities like Sialkot, Hyderabad, and Faisalabad frequently mentioned as frontrunners.
The auction process itself drew intense interest, with bids reflecting high investor confidence in the PSL’s growth—Sialkot fetched the highest price, while the second new franchise, based in Hyderabad and tentatively named Kingsmen Royals Hyderabad, also stirred excitement.
Fans and analysts highlight how this expansion could inject fresh talent from underrepresented areas, increase match counts (potentially up to 60 games), and elevate the league’s status closer to global giants like the IPL. Social media has been abuzz with predictions about player drafts, with some expressing hopes for star-studded lineups and others debating the impact on existing teams’ strategies.
Hype Specifically for the Sialkot Stallionz
The Sialkot Stallionz has captured particular enthusiasm due to its revival of a beloved cricketing identity from Pakistan’s domestic past. Sialkot, known globally for its sports goods manufacturing (producing much of the world’s cricket equipment), brings a natural synergy to the PSL, with fans viewing the team as a symbol of regional pride and industrial grit.
The name choice has been widely praised for honoring the city’s history while adding a fresh ‘z’ for branding appeal, and early reactions on X include viral posts celebrating it as a “legendary legacy with a modern twist.”
Hype is amplified by rumors of high-profile associations: reports suggest links to cricket icons like Shahid Afridi, Jason Gillespie, and Shoaib Malik, with fans speculating Malik might play a farewell match for the team given his deep ties to Sialkot. There’s also chatter about potential player moves, such as Babar Azam possibly joining from Peshawar Zalmi, adding star power and drawing massive crowds.
Owner Kamil Khan’s announcement emphasized excitement for the PSL journey, and fans have flooded social media with custom kit designs, logo edits, and calls for the team to dominate like its predecessors. With home games initially at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad (while Sialkot’s Jinnah Stadium is revived), the franchise is poised to tap into Punjab’s passionate cricket base, potentially creating one of the league’s most vocal fan groups.
Why is the Original Sialkot Stallions Famous?

The original Sialkot Stallions holds legendary status in Pakistan’s cricket history as the most dominant team in the country’s domestic T20 circuit. Founded in 2004, the team represented the Sialkot region and quickly became synonymous with excellence, winning six National T20 Cup titles between 2005 and 2011, including an unprecedented five consecutive victories from the 2005/06 to 2009/10 seasons.
Under captains like Shoaib Malik and coach Shahid Anwar, they achieved a world-record streak of 25 consecutive T20 wins, showcasing ruthless consistency and developing talents who went on to represent Pakistan internationally. This dominance not only elevated Sialkot’s profile but also highlighted the region’s contribution to Pakistani cricket, producing players known for their aggression and skill in short-format games.
A key milestone was their participation in the 2012 Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) qualifying round in South Africa, where they became the first Pakistani domestic team to compete in the prestigious tournament. They secured a notable victory against England’s Hampshire but fell short against New Zealand’s Auckland Aces, failing to advance to the main stage.
This exposure put Pakistani domestic cricket on the global map and underscored the Stallions’ quality.

Historically, the team symbolized the strength of regional cricket in Pakistan, fostering local rivalries and fan loyalty in an era before the PSL. Their unbeaten runs and multiple titles made them a benchmark for success, influencing how T20 cricket was played and structured domestically.
Sialkot Stallionz (PSL Franchise) vs, Sialkot Stallions (Dissolved Domestic Team)
It’s important to distinguish between the two entities to avoid confusion. The original Sialkot Stallions was a PCB-managed regional team in Pakistan’s domestic structure, competing in tournaments like the National T20 Cup and Super-8 T20 Cup until its dissolution in 2016 as part of a major PCB overhaul to prioritize city-based franchises and launch the PSL.
It was not a privately owned entity but a representative side tied to the Sialkot cricket association.
In contrast, Sialkot Stallionz is a brand-new, privately owned PSL franchise, independent of the old domestic setup. While it draws inspiration from the Stallions’ legacy (hence the similar name), it operates under the PSL’s professional model, with its own ownership, branding, and player draft system.
The ‘z’ in “Stallionz” emphasizes this fresh identity, and the team aims to build a new chapter rather than directly continuing the dissolved squad’s operations.
